Nita Lake Lodge

Michelin One Key

Nita Lake Lodge is a luxury alpine boutique hotel inspired by the stillness of glacial lakes and the surrounding Whistler mountain landscape. The project focuses on creating a deeply immersive retreat experience where nature becomes the foundation of both brand and interior direction.

Rich natural materials such as exposed timber and copped-hued slate establish a grounded, lodge-like atmosphere, while layered bespoke casegoods, dimmable lighting and soft textiles introduce warmth and comfort. The spacious rooms are a haven for a post-swim or ski day, before transitioning to the spa or the bistro to round out the day.

A muted palette of forest greens, deep charcoals, and warm caramels reflects the surrounding alpine environment, supporting a sense of calm and exclusivity. The design intention is to balance rustic authenticity with refined modern luxury, creating a restorative escape rooted in nature.

The result is contemplative luxury that reinterprets lodge living through a modern design lens while maintaining a strong sense of environmental authenticity.

In 2024 Nita Lake Lodge was awarded the prestigious recognition of a Michelin Key as part of the MICHELIN Guide’s inaugural selection of Canadian hotels. This tremendous honour is a testament to the exceptional service, thoughtful design, and memorable guest experiences that define the Nita Lake Lodge experience.

We are incredibly proud to have helped NLL achieve this distinction and congratulate the NLL team, whose passion and dedication continue to set the standard for hospitality excellence.

Final Presentation & Execution

The coordination of the Trades + Install Teams requires constant supervision. Demo, paint, delivery and unboxing of items in rooms, assembly, millwork, electrical, clean up and release back to the hotel Teams. All accomplished within a 10 week time frame. Success.

Material & Finishing Curation

Delivery of containers to a remote sites can involve watching weather patterns and shipping schedules. Our team is working round the clock to watch for potential delays effecting the initial scheduling. Our contianers were on time, our warehousing team on cue and our delivery team excellent.

Prototyping & Measurements

Mock up rooms are not only our way of testing the product fit and colours, but also estimating the installation timeline for the full roll-out. Hotels give us one floor at a time, while the rest of the property stays open for business.  Install time is critical for release of rooms back to the hotel. The mock up room allowed for us to tweak some sizing and to rework the construction of the wardrobe which was difficult to bring in through the small elevator.

Concept Development

77 rooms with varied floor plans and sizes - a wonderfully bespoke feel for each guest but a Project Management challenge when uniformity of designing custom casegoods is the priority. Measure twice, cut + install once.

Documentation & Discovery

Initial design phase for this renovation involved blending existing dark and light room themes and slate colours with new finish selections. First round of designs were received well and immediately approved by the client.

Collaboration between Design Teams and Ownership were ongoing and productive, with the Hotel + Operations Teams requesting a deeper dive into the final layout of the rooms.  We tapped into the expertise of our 3D Rendering Team to simulate this walkthrough which was true to the final installation.

Allowing additional time and remaining flexible during the project allows Teams to take a step back to ensure Ownership understands the design intent + final product.
