Coast Victoria Hotel + Marina

CoastVictoria_HarbourSuite.jpg

Oceanfront Elegance

Coast Victoria Hotel + Marina is a contemporary hotel inspired by the natural beauty and atmosphere of the Victoria Harbour. Rooted in a coastal design philosophy, the project blends relaxed elegance with modern silhouettes to create an experience that feels both elevated and deeply connected to nature.

The interiors draw from the surrounding shoreline, wildlife, and earthy textures, incorporating rich tones of chocolate, caramel, driftwood, and stone to evoke warmth and grounded comfort. A herringbone LVT lends itself to a timeless and traditional feel,  but with a more modern function in a busy hotel.

Soft accents of mauve, blush, and muted purple introduce moments of luxury and calm, creating spaces designed to inspire relaxation, sophistication and a seamless connection to seaside living.

Coast Hotel Victoria themes include Stillwater and Coastline, each their own reflection of Victoria's surrounding landscape; local flowers, trees, the Pacific Ocean and wildlife.

The "Cycling in Victoria" Mural in the Stillwater rooms was customized to reflect Victoria as one of Canada's most bike friendly cities, with the Victoria skyline reflected below. The light post inspired floor lamps and the lantern sconces at the headboard, again, an nod to the city's mood rather than relying on typical nautical themes.

Final Presentation & Execution

The final phase brings every detail together through refined presentations, technical coordination, and project execution. From visual walkthroughs to installation planning, we ensure the finished environment reflects both the original vision and the client’s experience within the space.

Material & Finishing Curation

Carefully selected textures, finishes, furnishings, lighting and custom bathroom vanities are curated to complement the project vision. We prioritize balance, durability, and timeless aesthetics to create interiors that feel cohesive and elevated. The swivel chairs are a favourite, allowing guests to swivel between the ocean view and the spacious interior of the room where their bistro table holds their breakfast.

Prototyping & Measurements

Precision is essential to successful interior design. With no formalized Floor Plans, our Project Management team took detailed measurements and an electrical assessments of each guest room and established layouts, furniture placement and circulation before custom designing new FF+E including headboard, bed platform, nightstand, desk and soft seating for a mock up room.

Concept Development

During the conceptual phase, initial ideas are translated into visual narratives through moodboards, material exploration, spatial planning, and design studies. This stage focuses on defining atmosphere, tone, and the overall identity of the space. The Coast philosophy states "Refreshingly Local" so we honour this using tones and moods within the local scene.

Documentation & Discovery

We begin by understanding the vision, goals, and functional needs of each project. Through research, site analysis, inspiration gathering, and client collaboration, we establish a strong creative and technical foundation that guides the design direction moving forward.

1.

An early conceptual design using a floral mural, an area carpet under the bed and a headboard 48" above the floor. Ultimately, the design direction pivoted according to the client's wishes. The taller headboard would hide the mural so it was moved to the side wall.

2.

The headboard was increased to a dramatic 60" above the floor, the mural softened to reflect a softer flow, and the beautiful dark walnut flooring left exposed to give off warm hues, also allowing the dimmable under bed lighting to pool light further into the room.
